Yesterday afternoon, Paw Print Games attended the Indie afternoon of the DEVELOP Liverpool conference. Hear we heard from various speakers, from single man development studios to Phillip Oliver, co-founder of Blitz Games with 200+ employees. While all the speakers gave some interesting insight/tips on being a successful developer, the most inspirational talk was certainly Phllip's which was essentially the story of Blitz games, starting with two kids coding in their bedrooms, setting themselves goals (getting a magazine listing, getting a published game, getting a boxed game, getting number one in the charts, getting an office, and so on).
After the DEVELOP afternoon, we attended, and ran a stall, at the Indie Showcase, which was an event over the road from DEVELOP where various companies in the North West of England were given the opportunity to do a showcase about their company. We turned up with a dozen different devices, ranging from iPhone, iPad, Palm mobiles to Nook e-Readers to Android tablets to BlackBerry PlayBooks and more, and demonstrated our various titles running across the board. Our stall was well received and a lot of interest was gained for our in-house cross-platform engine which targets many platforms including: PC, MacOSX, iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry BBX, WebOS, Bada, NaCl (Google Native Client), Pandora.
