On Tuesday afternoon BlackBerry 10 was launched to the world. To coincide with the launch Antony and Steven were on hand at the London event to demo Swashbuckler by Paul Frank, Wacky Rapids and KAMI RETRO on the BlackBerry® Z10 smartphone. Availability of the Z10 between territories varies but if you’re lucky enough to be living in the UK you can get your hands on a Z10 now!
We have been developing games for BlackBerry since the release of the Native SDK for the PlayBook back in 2011. Back then it took little more than a day to add the support to our in-house engine and have KAMI RETRO up and running.
Adding the support for what was QNX at the time was a no-brainer, especially knowing that the future BlackBerry mobile devices would be using it. Once we received a BB10 Dev Alpha in 2012, KAMI RETRO was up and running in around 20 minutes!
As a studio we look to add support for any platforms supporting Native because adding another SKU to the engine, especially ones that can take so little time, is a great way to increase revenue streams for the game you typically spend many months working on.
All 3 titles are available on BlackBerry® World™ for both PlayBook and BB10.
